STOP STREET SITSIT

Catcalling has become something that every girl has experienced at least once in their lives. It is the act of shouting harassment and is often sexually suggestive and threatening. It is commonly done to girls in public, putting the victim in an embarrassing situation. Catcalling endangers every woman’s life and security.

Women live in a world where they are seen as trophies: items to be chased and then placed on a wall shelf and to gloat over. Women live in a world where it’s okay to harass them and yell out obscenities and slurs to tell them how “beautiful” and “wanted” they are. The truth of the matter is that none of this is acceptable — catcalling, body-policing, and anything associated. It is damaging to women and it encourages harmful behaviour. Thus, we need to take action to reduce and even eliminate catcalling.

The campaign Stop Street Sitsit is a non-profit organization that helps people around the globe know more about street harassment or catcalling. To learn more about this campaign, click the picture below to go to their website.
